 The travel magazine and guide Spartacus has released its Spartacus Gay Travel Index , a ranking assessing the situation of LGBTQIA+ people in countries and regions. This year, Iceland joins Malta, Canada, Portugal, and Spain, which already held the top spot in , as the most LGBTQIA+ friendly destinations. So far, same-sex marriage is legal only in the countries of Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Uruguay and in some individual states of Mexico. This is where differences between the individual countries manifest themselves. This may put small states at a disadvantage, but it makes sense that even states with regressive and anti-queer legislation can have cities with great queer diversity and offerings.
