The co-creator of Netflix’s upcoming queer animated film Nimona has said that “transness and gender fluidity” sits at its heart. Based on ND Stevenson’s beloved graphic novel of the same name, Netflix’s upcoming animated feature Nimona follows a feisty shapeshifter, voiced by Chloe Grace. While Nimona and Ballister's friendship is the core relationship that the movie puts most of its focus on, there is another relationship that merits examination -- Ballister and Ambrosius Goldenloin's Eugene Lee Yang. For instance, Ballister tells Nimona that things would be easier "if she just looked like a girl" instead of shapeshifting into animals all the time, even using the defense that not everyone is as accepting of Nimona's truth as he is. On the night of his decoration as an official knight of the kingdom, Ballister was found by Ambrosius alone on a platform, he comforted him saying that he was already an incredible knight and a wonderful person, holding his hand and placing his head on his shoulder, showing affection and reassuring him, showing that everyone would love Ballister as he does.
